Abstract
The lack of heteroplasmy rates, incomplete genetic testing in relatives, and the use of potentially mitochondrion-toxic medications are notable concerns. Additionally, the absence of reference limits for reported figures and the potential benefits of NO precursors in preventing stroke-like episodes warrant further investigation. Clarifying the timing of MELAS onset in this patient and the distinction between HSE and SLL in MELAS are also important. Addressing these shortcomings would enhance the understanding and management of mitochondrial disorders in clinical practice.
