Authorship and Contributorship
Authorship and Contributorship

At the Himalayan Journal of Economics and Business Management, we recognize the importance of authorship and contributorship in scholarly publishing. Our authorship and contributorship policy aims to ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability in attributing credit for scholarly work. Below, we outline the key components of our authorship and contributorship policy:

Authorship Criteria:

Authorship credit is based on substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research.

Individuals who meet the criteria for authorship should be listed as authors on the manuscript.

Common authorship criteria include:

  • Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the study.
  • Acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
  • Drafting or revising the manuscript critically for intellectual content.
  • Final approval of the version to be published.
  • All authors should meet the criteria for authorship and actively contribute to the research, writing, or revision of the manuscript.

In addition to authors, individuals who have made significant contributions to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately.

Contributorship roles may include:

  • Providing technical or administrative support.
  • Assisting with data collection, analysis, or interpretation.
  • Providing funding or other resources for the research.
  • Offering intellectual input or guidance that does not meet the criteria for authorship.
  • Contributors should be acknowledged in the manuscript's acknowledgments section, clearly stating their role or contribution to the research.

Authorship Order:

  • Authorship order should reflect the relative contributions of each author to the research.
  • Authors should discuss and agree on the order of authorship based on their respective contributions.
  •  Common conventions for authorship order include listing authors in descending order of contribution, with the first author typically being the individual who made the most significant contributions to the research.

Corresponding Author:*

  • The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the journal during the submission, review, and publication process.
  • The corresponding author should ensure that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the manuscript before submission.
  • Contact information for the corresponding author, including email address and affiliation, should be provided in the manuscript for communication purposes.

Authorship Disputes:

  • Authorship disputes should be resolved transparently and in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Authors should discuss and attempt to resolve authorship disagreements among themselves first.
  • If disputes cannot be resolved internally, the journal may request documentation of contributions from each author or seek input from institutional authorities or ethics committees.

Changes to Authorship:

Any changes to the list of authors or authorship order after manuscript submission should be communicated to the journal promptly by correction@iarcon.org

Changes to authorship require the consent of all affected parties and may be subject to editorial review and approval.
