Definition of Plagiarism:

Plagiarism is the act of presenting someone else's work, ideas, or words as one's own without proper attribution or acknowledgment. This includes verbatim copying of text, paraphrasing without citation, and even self-plagiarism. This journal stands against reusing any or even one's own previously published work without proper citation.

Plagiarism Detection:

All submitted manuscripts undergo rigorous plagiarism screening using advanced plagiarism detection software. (https://in.turnitin.com/)

The plagiarism detection process compares the submitted manuscript against a vast database of scholarly literature, websites, and other sources to identify instances of textual similarity.

Authors are themselves responsible for ensuring the originality and authenticity of their work before submission.

Threshold for Plagiarism:

   - The Himalayan Journal of Economics and Business Management defines plagiarism as the presence of significant textual similarity exceeding a predetermined threshold.

   - While some degree of textual overlap may occur inadvertently, manuscripts with substantial plagiarized content are subject to rejection or retraction.

Consequences of Plagiarism:

Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism exceeding the predetermined threshold are immediately rejected. Those authors may be prohibited from submitting future manuscripts to the journal for a specified period as a consequence of plagiarism.

Authors of plagiarized manuscripts are notified of the plagiarism findings and the reasons for rejection.

Self-Plagiarism Policy:

  • Authors are expected to adhere to ethical guidelines regarding self-plagiarism, also known as text recycling or duplicate publication.
  • Authors must disclose any prior publications or overlapping content in their manuscript and properly cite their own previous work.
  • Reproducing significant portions of one's own previously published work without proper citation is considered self-plagiarism and is subject to the same consequences as external plagiarism.
